10.2.2010

I am feeling hungry as I had two Polar curry puffs tonight. So I start snacking before going to bed.

The milo snack bar is not crunchy and not flavorful.

The snicker flavored pod is nice! It's like eating chocolate!! It's so small and you can easily pop one after another, into your mouth. It's real addictive okie!

Instant Continental Creamy Seafood Bisque, with croutons.

I am famished after my midnight shift. This is perfect before I hit the sack.

After resting 5 hours, I am out for my late lunch or you can say my early dinner, at six in the evening. I have my meal at Elizabeth Arcade which is only 5 minutes walk from the hotel. You can find Asian fair there, like cuisine from Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Vietnam. It's heaven to me, an Asian!! I prefer coming to such eateries than finding food in food courts, as the food found at eateries are more tasty and authentic, those found in the latter are less palatable!

I pick this Japanese eatery where they serve ramen, bento set and curry. I have the chicken kariage curry with rice which cost me A$10.

Calpis water.
My first time tasting Calpis water, as Calpis soda is not available here. I still prefer the soda as the water has no 'kick'.

I ask for mild curry. When my curry arrives, I see chilli flakes on it. Ha. The degree of spiciness does not comes from the curry they prepare. All they did is cook one type of curry and add chilli flakes to the curry according to how spicy the customers want their curry to be. If Very Spicy, they simply add more chilli flakes. My first time seeing this!

Walk here to get my frozen yogurt fix.

Wide array of toppings for you to choose from!

Frozen yogurt after my meal, Berry Blue.
This is mixed from frozen strawberries and blue berries. $5 for a big cup.

My Berry Blue.

I normally end up getting the same type of cookies and snacks from the supermarket. Thus, I decide to try out new stuffs this time. Here's snacks I have never tried before.

Berry gummy for mom.

Milo energy snack bar. It comes in Milo with milk too. I decide to try the original this time.

This comes in Mars, Snickers, Twix and Toffee flavors.

7.2.2010

We spend a couple of hours at Ann Siang Street today. It's really hot and we have our tea time at K Ki. (I believe they get the name from Cake, the way pronounced by Japanese) It's owned by a young couple. The husband is in charged of baking yummy cakes whereas the wife takes care of the customers and washing. And they are real friendly people.

Strawberry shortcake and latte. The tiny piece of cake cost $6. Very small indeed.

Antoniette (white chocolate cake with mango) and earl grey tea.
The cake is super delicious!! I love it!! It's a little pricey for a cake though. It's $8 per piece.

Books Actually window.

Visit The Little Drom Store to get these today. Cannot decide on the color of cloud and I end up getting yellow cloud. Two for $30 (or one for $18).

Another buy today, Azure Ray CD.

I am dead tired when I get home. When resting in bed, I wanna view the photos taken today, before retiring for the day. To my horror, my LCD screen reads NO IMAGES!!!! I quickly stick my memory card into the card reader hoping to view the photos on my laptop, with angst!! Shucks! Negative again!! This is the worst thing which can happen to me!! Hope I am able to retrieve the photos with help from expert. Please bless me!!

These above photos are with courtesy from SW.

I am doing a minor spring cleaning for my shoes and I discarded a few pairs today. I have not worn some of these flip flops for a long time, and all are filled with dust! So, I give all of them a good scrub tonight! They are so clean now!

6.2.2010 Goodbye My Sterling Dress. Boo Hoo Hoo.

This dress is a little too big for me but I bought it, hoping to alter it so that it could fit me nicely after that. I brought to a seamstress and to my disappointment, she decline to alter it for me as it's kinda impossible to do so, as the lining is sewn to the dress painstakingly. After that, I seek Kay's mom opinion as she used to be a seamstress and I get a sad NO from her too. Looks like I am not fated to own this beautiful dress I bought last month in San Francisco.

Today, I go to the website hoping to find size 0 but my search is in vain as the smallest available online is size 8 "(

How I wish I can wear it and simply use a safety pin to tighten the dress... or should I keep the dress and wear it if I were to grow bigger few years down the road?

It's really heart-rending when I have to say goodbye to something I love. It can't be mine and I have to let it go. I dislike feeling this way.

2.1.2010 Feel so at home

After a 2 1/2 hour nap, I feel so hungry. So, I quickly get help to heat up the food I brought from Singapore.

Saba Shioyaki I bought from supermarket yesterday.

This is real good. The fish is sweet and juicy!! I love it! ^^ I will go back for more. It's a real convenient food. But it's not substantial for me. An hour later, my stomach starts growling again. Ha. I must be very hungry when I wake from nap at 5.30 in the evening.

Before I nap, I am watching Zoe's 2008 drama, 绝对佳人 aired in Shanghai. When I wake, the drama is still showing. To my surprise, they show 4 episodes in a row, from 2 to 6pm!! Once the drama ends, I switch channel and I am delighted to catch Little Nyonya on another channel.

Little Nyonya is airing in China daily from 6-7pm.

鞠香。

Reunion of the ill-fated couple.

At 7pm, I am feeling hungry again. Thus, ring the room service for dinner. This delicious laksa comes with 2 jumbo prawns. Ask for thin noodle this time as the thick noodles is too thick to my liking.

I doze off after dinner and wake at midnight. I catch another old 'home' production on tv until 2.30am, 三十风雨路. The show mainly revolves around the lead character, Ah Zhi (played by Huang Biren) who plays a long suffering woman being constantly looked down on by her husband's family due to her poor family background. She later saves the company from bankruptcy and reunites the Zhang family despite the many difficulties she faces. Do you remember this 40-episode blockbuster Chinese drama, telecast in August 2004?

When I google Huang Bi Ren, I learn she left the show business 3 years ago. She was with the Mediacorp for 18 years, from 1989 to 2007!! She didn't renew her contact as the offer fell short of her expectations. She choose to stick to her principles. Hmm.. I didn't know she left for this reason. This is the down side of being a contracted employee, no job security. She is a full-time mom to a boy and a girl.

1.2.2010 Life without a caller ID

Today is the fourth day without a caller identity.

Realising that my bill is fairly high for a low user like me, I finally call the phone company to change my plan. Upon inquiring my usage, I noticed I have under-utilized my prime plan. Arrrggghh... I should have made this call earlier! Thus I have picked something more suitable, having to pay $20.54 now, with $7 savings each month, if I do not exceed my allowance. The new plan allows me to enjoy 100 minutes of outgoing call, free incoming calls and 500 sms/mms every month. But it does not include caller identity service and I pay 10% more if I were to call or send sms overseas. I have to pay additional $5 for caller ID service. The staff promised me complimentary caller ID service for the first 3 months but apparently I am not able to tell who the caller is whenever my mobile phone rings.

Can you live without Caller ID service? We are so used to such convenience in our daily life and when you lose it, you might think you are unable to survive without one. As for me, I am kinda accustomed to not seeing the caller's name been displayed on the screen of my phone. You have to recognise the caller's voice, if not, you probably have to ask who the caller is. Pretty embarassing, isn't it? I think it's quite fun!!
