16.12.2009 Day 3 ~ 08:45 to 16:30

I went to bed early last night, at 8pm and I am feeling fully recharged, after resting 10 hours! I gather from the morning news that it's going to be a cold day, today! The highest temperature is 1.6 degree celcius!! Looks like I have to put on the thickest sweater I brought today!

At 8.45am, I step out of the hotel for Chinatown. I alight at Spring Street station and venture Chinatown from there. Spring Street station is right next to Soho.

This old patisserie catch my attention, so I step in to take a look and end up getting a hot chocolate as it's really cold out there.

Very soon, I make my second stop at one of the bakeries in Chinatown. The warm n fluffy breads look so yummy! I have shrimp rice rolls and a cup of milk tea which cost me USD 2.75 altogether. While I am having my breakfast, a lady plonk herself right in front of me. We end up having a brief conversation. I learned she left Hong Kong 30 years ago and she is living with her family in New York.

The soft and fluffy bread draw me into the bakery!

This is my breakfast in Chinatown. The shrimp rice rolls and milk tea cost me USD 2.75. I am so happy with my meal and it makes me feel like I am dining in Hong Kong as the patrons and staff are communicating in Cantonese ah!

My breakfast companion. She has been living here for 30 years and migrated here when she was 29! Gosh! That's a long time away from home.

After breakfast, I do some shooting in Chinatown. After that, I wander and end up at Brooklyn Bridge. Today's a beautiful day, just very breezy!

One of my favorite shots today.

Simply looking at it makes me hungry!

A tastefully decorated Italian restaurant in Little Italy.

One last shot in Chinatown before I go.

At Brooklyn Bridge, I spot this lady cladding a DSLR, like I do. Thus, I approach her for a photo of me at Brooklyn Bridge. When I meet her the second time on the bridge, as we are shooting at different pace, I strike a conversation with her. She is Tania from Ukraine.

Brooklyn Bridge.

Am resting my feet after the long walk on Brooklyn Bridge.

I am not familiar with the subway routes and I have to inquire whenever I travel on subway. Now, I can differentiate uptown and downtown lines, which helps me getting in the right direction of train. After inquiry, I find my way to 32nd Street where the Korean restaurant is.

Lunch at Kunjip Restaurant on 32nd Street. I enjoyed my meal on my last trip, hence come back here for more. This is extremely spicy and I didn't finish it.

I am not served cold side dishes, thus I ask for some and I am told my food doesn't complement them. Nevertheless, the Korean staff get me a plate of bean curd upon request.

After a little shopping on 33rd Street, I drop by Bryant Park on my way back to the hotel.

And also the Grand Central Station.

Christmas pressies for friends.
Back to the room at 4.30pm. Spend about 8 hours out today, shooting and shopping.

My buy today!! ^^ Find it on 33rd Street Aldo.
